Halloween 2010!

So, this year we decided that we were going to dress up for a Halloween party. It has been years, literally, since we even thought about putting on a costume. My friend and I decided to be josie and the pussycats (minus one cat lol). Donnie was Jason, my brother in law was a pimp. HILARIOUS. My sisters-in-law were - a very bat girl, a bumble bee, and a french maid. Some friends of my sister in law were also there, and she was Mrs Claus, while he was an inmate having a really bad hair day. While none of us won the costume contest, we all had fun dancing and laughing A LOT. I don't think you ever get too old to go out and have fun. I realize that many people think there is an age limit, and that after you have kids life stops, but I just do not believe it. If you like to dance when you are 15, why will that change just because you have children. I will definitely be dressing up again next year.

Cheerleading

This part of the year is always so hectic. I have school, practice, kids, throw in DeVaughn's football and now Krista's dance class there is never a dull day. Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy for keeping such a schedule, but then I wonder if it wasn't this crazy what I would do.

The bad thing about this year has been the last month. I have been sick every week. First it was a stomach flu. It lasted a day. Then the following week it was tonsillitis and pharyngitis. Then the stomach flu all over again! Three days this time. What, you may ask, was my ailment this last week? A cold. I now have a cold. No telling how long this one will last. I am totally looking forward to what is next. ^insert sarcasm^

The Lion King (featuring the Cheatham Children)

So, the new favorite movie is the lion king. We have probably watched it about 100 times. . . a week. It is crazy that they love the movie as much as I did (and do) They now know most of the words (I am so proud) and can sing most of the songs. Our favorite to sing together is be prepared. It sounds wonderful, although Chris does forget some of the words every once in awhile. BUT - he is two so its understood.

The thing is, my children now act out different scenes as the movie is playing. Their favorite is the fight scene. Imagine - Krista is Scar, Alex is Simba. Krista stalks Alex and says "do you deny it!"

Alex answers, "No."

She comes back with, "So you admit it. Murderer!"

Alex says, "No, it wasn't like that." and so on and so forth, until we hit the climactic part when Simba is hanging off the cliff (in our home the coffee table represents said cliff).

Krista leans over and says, "I have a little secret of my own. IIIII KIIILLLLEEEDD MUFFFFFAAAAASSSSAAA!!" Alex then roars loudly, jumps up on to the table on top of Krista, and puts his paw (hand) on her throat.

"Tell them the truth!" and so on and so forth. Once Scar (Krista) admits he killed Mufasa, they both start in roaring and pawing at each other. Krista then falls off the table down to the waiting Hyenas, and yells in agony as they do her in. All this time Chris is in the background roaring periodically. I have spent many a days watching this (and many other scenes) play out in front of me, and have not once thought to pick up my camera and video tape it. That will be my first priority next time they do it.

I love my kids, they really are entertaining.

Krista - SMH

My girl is a drama queen, very girlie, and loves pretty things, BUT having three boys in the house has rubbed off on her something serious. This girl will hop on chairs when she sees a bug, and scream bloody murder until it flies away or she is rescued by someone. She is constantly asking to wear her pretty dress, or princess dress, or ballerina outfit. Seriously, she is already obsessed with shoes, not sneakers, GIRLIE SHOES. She wants her hair done, her nails painted, and her chapstick (aka lipstick) readily available. She is sugar and spice and everything nice - polar opposite of mommy.

So, why then, does my girl fart like a man and laugh, burp loudly and announce it to the whole room, and stick her finger in her nose in public? Not. Very. Ladylike. (she does at least say excuse me :-/). Today she comes to me and says "what's this on my shirt?" I didn't see anything. She kept pushing, and finally I told her just to point out whatever it was I was supposed to see. She then says in a very sweet voice, "It's greeeeeeennnn." Are you kidding me? It was a freaking booger. I tell her to go get a tissue, but no she says she wants me to get it. Um, I don't think so. Again, I tell her to get a tissue, but instead, she scratches the thing off of her shirt. WTH. So, I tell her for the third time to get a tissue, and she tries to wipe it on the box of brownies I was holding. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CHILD? I moved the box, raised my voice, and said TISSUE, NOW! Finally, she walks away, presumably to get a tissue, but who knows. I may find that thing stuck on my wall somewhere later today.

A Great Man

My grandfather passed away recently and it has been very tough on the entire family. He was a wonderful papa, and I miss him everyday. I am by no means a poet, but sometimes writing helps me get out what I am feeling - cheesy as it may be. I am thinking about doing some artwork for it and binding it as a children's book for my kids. I would love for them to remember him.

Grandpas are funny. They like to play games

Grandpa’s are loving, the make up nicknames

Grandpa’s are silly, they dance and they sing

Grandpa’s are strong and protect you from “things”

My grandpa was special, he lives in my heart

As long as I love him, we’re never apart

I remember the times that we would share

Laughing and joking without a care

He’d say “whatcha wanna do” and I would say dance

Then we would hop all around like there were ants in our pants

Late nights he’d find me tucked into bed

He’d whisper to ask me if I had been fed

He would know the answer but it mattered not

He had some great goodies in bags or in pots

And at night we’d eat, no matter how late

Ice cream, burgers, sleeping could wait

There were times when he’d give me 5 dollars to spend

And before I knew it 5 dollars was 10

And as the day would go on it would multiply more

And I’d spend lots of time back and forth to the store.

My grandpa will always live on in my mind

Forever and always in my heart you will find

My sweet recollections of times that we shared

And all the reminders of how much he cared

I love you Papa!

Seriously?

Could this week really have been any busier. I have been so tired at the end of every night! Lets start with Wednesday. Football had a scrimmage, so we decided to cheer since it was a home game. I was on my feet the entire time. Then I had to pick the kids up from my parents house. By the time I got home, we were all done. Chris and I fell asleep on the couch, and didn't go upstairs until close to two o'clock. I had the presence of mind to check his diaper and realize it was pretty heavy. SO, half asleep and delirious I took the diaper off, and replaced it with a pull up, since it was easier to put on. We then went back to sleep. When Donnie got home, he woke me up to inform me that Chris had peed all over me. I apparently had slept right through it. I didn't understand how he had peed on me since I had changed him before we fell back to sleep. Well, Donnie informed me that although I had put the pull up on him, I had failed to point his important parts the right way. As a matter of fact, not only had I not pointed it the right way, it was poking out of the top of the pull up. There is no telling how many times I got peed on.

Alex's first day of school!

So, today my oldest is officially a kindergartner. (Unofficially he has been since the end of May of course.) Although he has been going to school since he three, it was still strange to leave him in that room. It is way to official now. He is a big boy, far from a baby. I am excited to see what he learns this year. He is so curious by nature, I know that he will just soak up whatever is thrown at him.

On a totally unrelated note, as I sit here and type, Krista is begging for little man's nuggets (which he has been nursing for about two hours). It is like a game, she tries to feed him, he says no, so she tries to eat it, and all of a sudden he wants it. Then, baby girl proceeds to say, "Please can I have it? Please, please, please! Please! Please! Of course the whole time this is going on, they are lounging on me making it very hard to think, let alone type. So, since there is entirely too much effort in this post, I will end for now. Random, I know.

Happy Birthday Chris

Today is my baby's second birthday. The time has passed way too quickly! He has been a blessing. He entered this world weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces. He was 19 and 3/4 inches and my biggest baby. He came here with a head full of black hair. It has been a crazy ride since then. Adding one more to a family changes the entire dynamic. He has such personality, and everyone falls in love with him. I blame his brother and sister because their hyperactivity and spasticness has definitely influenced him. He is a flirt, and loves to dance and sing. He is not shy and laughs loud and plays hard. He is all boy, and loves his mama above all others (except maybe pop pop). If you had asked me three years ago if I wanted another child I would have said no way, but now my life would be utterly incomplete without him!

It's Just Me

Where do I start? No really. Where do you start when you begin one of these blogs? I assume as time passes it gets easier, but I feel as though I need to put some background information. Like I have to introduce myself to the blogging world, even though I assume that the people reading will be family and friends who already know me. But, just to cover my bases I will start with who we are.

The Cheatham family consists of me (Tamara), my husband Donnie, our children Alex, Krista, Chris - and the nephew, DeVaughn. Donnie and I met in middle school, started dating in high school, got married at 24, and started reproducing at 26. And, here we are. Three kids, one nephew, busy schedule, and still slightly sane. Slightly.

I figure this blog will just keep up with the random events in are our lives. I will try to make it worth reading, but I can't promise anything.
